Odznaka Honorowa „Za zasługi dla budownictwa”
Podczas sesji Rady Powiatu Tatrzańskiego w dniu 26 lipca 2018 r. odbyło się uroczyste wręczenie Pani Marii Magdalenie Świerk odznaki honorowej „Za zasługi dla budownictwa”
Odznaka Honorowa „Za zasługi dla budownictwa” jest to polskie odznaczenie resortowe ustanowione 30 listopada 1999 r. i nadawane przez ministra właściwego do spraw budownictwa, planowania i zagospodarowania przestrzennego jako zaszczytne honorowe wyróżnienie przyznawane pracownikom architektury i budownictwa, a także innym osobom za szczególne osiągnięcia w tej dziedzinie.
Z wnioskiem o odznakę „Za zasługi dla budownictwa” dla Pani Marii Świerk wystąpiło stowarzyszenie Zakopiańska Budowlanka w Zakopanem przy okazji obchodów 140-lecia ZSB im. W. Matlakowskiego w Zakopanem.
Maria Magdalena Świerk urodzona w Zakopanem w góralskiej rodzinie Truchanów. Ukończyła Szkołę Podstawową nr 2 w Zakopanem, a w latach 1970-1975 uczęszczała do Technikum Budownictwa Regionalnego, które ukończyła z wyróżnieniem, dostając się na Politechnikę Krakowską na Wydział Budownictwa Lądowego bez egzaminu. Studia ukończyła w 1980 r., uzyskując tytuł mgr inż. Zaraz po studiach podjęła pracę zawodową w Zespole Szkół Budowlanych im. Matlakowskiego w Zakopanem jako nauczyciel przedmiotów zawodowych. Pracowała również w Zespole Szkół Mistrzostwa Sportowego w Zakopanem.
Ceniona jest za profesjonalizm i rzetelność, a jej wiedza, bogate doświadczenie oraz obowiązkowość sprawiły, że stała się osobą cieszącą się wielkim uznaniem i autorytetem zarówno wśród pedagogów, jak i w środowisku budowlanym. Dzięki temu, że posiada zarówno wiedzę teoretyczną, jak i praktyczną budzi szacunek mężczyzn z branży budowlanej. Odkąd ukończyła Technikum Budownictwa Regionalnego, zawsze bliskie jej sercu było tradycyjne podhalańskie budownictwo ludowe. Inspirowała młodzież, stworzyła warunki do rozwoju talentów wielu uczniów uzdolnionych i zawsze wspierała ich rozwój.
Maria Świerk to pedagog i wychowawca kilku pokoleń pracowników branży budowlanej: cieśli, stolarzy, monterów instalacji sanitarnych, techników budownictwa, techników technologii drewna, inżynierów budowlanych, konstruktorów, architektów. Wymiernym efektem tego, że Pani Maria wspierała uzdolnioną młodzież w rozwoju, były liczne sukcesy wychowanków na Olimpiadzie Wiedzy i Umiejętności Budowlanych oraz w konkursach na najlepsze prace dyplomowe.
Ukończyła studia podyplomowe Pedagogika Szkolnictwa Zawodowego na Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej im. St. Staszica w Krakowie oraz Zarządzanie Oświatą na Akademii Ekonomicznej w Krakowie.
Pełniąc funkcję wicedyrektora Zespołu Szkół Budowlanych, dała się poznać jako doskonały organizator, menadżer, gospodarz, przełożony. Wymagała od siebie i od innych. Wykazała się dużą dbałością o powierzony jej budynek. Nawiązała współpracę z firmą KNAUF, co zaowocowało remontem kilku sal lekcyjnych.
Za swój wybitny dorobek zawodowy i wyniki w pracy pedagogicznej została wyróżniona licznymi odznaczeniami i nagrodami m. in. za działalność i pracę z młodzieżą otrzymała odznaczenie od Ministra Kultury „ Zasłużony działacz kultury” w 2003 r.
Jest również aktywną działaczką regionalną. Prowadziła zespół regionalny w szkole nr 9 Harenda, Zespół Regionalny „Budorze” w ZSB w Zakopanem. Czynnie działałam w Zespole Regionalnym im. Klimka Bachledy i w Zespole im. Bartusia Obrochty w Zakopanem.
Pani Maria od 37 lat stanowi doskonały przykład, jak promować wśród młodych ludzi wykształcenie budowlane i nadawać mu właściwą rangę.
We wrześniu 2016 r. zakończyła pracę zawodową w szkole, ale nie przestała działać na rzecz Zespołu Szkół Budowlanych.
